Canterbury of New Zealand was established back in 1904 when John Lane, Pringle Walker and Alfred Rudkin began producing woollen garments deep in the Canterbury Province of New Zealand. Before long, they were making uniforms for the army during the First World War, and they earned themselves a reputation for manufacturing tough, durable kit. So much so, the legendary All Blacks rugby team approached them to produce rugby attire in which they could play.
The rest as they say is history; Canterbury of New Zealand outfitted the All Blacks team for over 75 years and is now the largest dedicated rugby brand in the world. Canterbury currently supply kit to numerous high-profile national rugby teams; British & Irish Lions, England Rugby and Ireland Rugby, as well as leading clubs such as Leinster, NZ Warriors and Bath Rugby.

World Racquets champion H.J. Gray founded the racket-making company H.J. Gray and Sons in Cambridge, England in 1855. The company later began manufacturing cricket bats for leading Cambridge players such as Ranjitsinjhi and the then Prince of Wales and remains a family business. L.J. Nicolls started making bats in 1876 in his workshop in Robertsbridge, East Sussex, where the company is still based today. These two well-regarded bat manufacturers merged in the 1940s to form Gray-Nicolls and stars such as England Captain Wally Hammond and Australian all-rounder Keith Miller soon started to use Gray-Nicolls bats.

Gill was an idea born on the water. In 1975 their founder, Nick Gill, was a keen sailor who utilised his father’s factory in Nottingham to begin production of truly capable sailing apparel. Kit that could be both protective and comfortable.
Still based in the UK, where they develop and test all their garments, they’ve grown to become one of the leading marine apparel brands in the world. Equipping round-the-world teams when they’ve won prestigious ocean races, as well as Olympians to get them on the podium. Inspired by their nautical heritage Gill have also developed lifestyle clothing that can be worn anywhere, but which is still engineered with a marine pedigree.
Today all Gill garments utilise a range of cutting-edge technologies, from Activated Carbon baselayers to SuperFabric™, the most abrasive-resistant fabric in the world. At sea, saltwater comes at you from everywhere, so Gill clothing is tested in-house and on the water to withstand the very worst.
That means whatever environment you find yourself in – sea, shore or inland – Gill have already engineered the kit to perform for you.
